The John F. Kennedy Airport serves New York City. The airport is in the south-eastern part of New York City and serves as a hub for over 90 airlines including Delta Airlines and American Airlines. The airport has 6 operating terminals that have 12 ramps, 2 pedestrian bridges and 1 canopy structure.

In 2018, JPCL Engineering performed the Biennial Inspections of John F. Kennedy Airport Terminal Ramps.

The work included field inspections of the top of decks, underside of decks, bearings, and abutments. All non-structural elements including fences, railings, utilities, etc. were inspected for deficiencies that could pose a safety hazard to the public. Load rating was also done for the bridges as part of the work. Bridges were accessed from the airside with Port Authority’s aid to inspect certain spans and fascia. The signs and lighting structures were inspected along with the parapet barriers. There was a combined total of 205 sign structures that were visually inspected along with a closer look at its current condition and the supports. The light poles, sidewalk and rail posts

were also inspected. The findings, including priority repairs and safety repairs were reported with On-Site Photos and AutoCAD Drawings.

The information was carried into the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ) and Bridge Data Information System (BDIS) for Inspections.
